  • Full text: Chris Graf is the Research Integrity Director at Springer Nature, in charge of leading the continued development and implementation of Springer Nature’s research integrity strategy, leading a team accountable for assuring the highest standards for research integrity in all of Springer Nature’s publications, working with many good colleagues inside Springer Nature and with many good academic partners outside Springer Nature. Chris also serves the publishing sector with a voluntary role at the STM Association, the global trade association for academic and professional publishers, where he chairs a committee of senior publishing industry executives overseeing governance of the STM Integrity Hub, and the STM Research Integrity Committee. In 2023 Chris was appointed to a position as committee member of the UK Committee on Research Integrity, a new organisation hosted by UKRI, that promotes research integrity across the UK and internationally.

  • Full text: Dr Daniel Barr is a Principal Research Integrity Advisor at RMIT University, Australia. Prior to joining RMIT University, he worked in research management at the University of Melbourne and Deakin University. Dr Barr has also worked as a biomedical scientist in Australia and the United States. Specialising in research integrity and ethics, Dr Barr has developed and implemented initiatives in policy, education and training, and support services that aim to enhance the responsible conduct of research at universities. He also conducts research in research integrity, and is working to develop Guiding Principles for Research Integrity for the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation. Dr Barr has a BSc (Hons) and a PhD in immunology from the University of Melbourne. He is a Training Fellow of the Australasian Research Management Society and an Honorary Senior Fellow of the Department of Microbiology and Immunology at the University of Melbourne. Dr Barr serves as a committee member of the Asia-Pacific Research Integrity Network and of the World Conferences on Research Integrity Amsterdam Agenda Advisory Committee. Dr Barr was Co-chair of the 6th World Conference on Research Integrity.

He is the co-founder of the Young Scientists Network-Academy of Sciences Malaysia (YSN-ASM) Responsible Conduct of Research (RCR) Programme, and a member of the National Committee on Research Integrity of Malaysia. He is also a governing board member of the World Conference on Research Integrity. De-Ming has led the Association of Southeast Asia Nations (ASEAN) RCR Project and the YSN-ASM Science Integrity Working Group.

  • Full text: Joeri Tijdink is an associate professor and principal investigator at Amsterdam UMC, location VUmc, and is affiliated with VU University in Amsterdam, the Netherlands. After studying medicine at Utrecht University (1999–2006) and specializing as a clinical psychiatrist in Amsterdam (2007–2012), he completed his PhD (2012–2015), entitled Publish & Perish: Research on Research and Researchers. His thesis focused on the impact of publication pressure on research quality and the mental health of researchers. His current research focuses on research integrity, reproducibility, research quality, mental well-being in academia, and research culture. He is involved in several national and international research projects, including the TIER2 project (www.tier2-project.eu), which explores the future(s) of reproducibility and develops tools to support reproducibility practices. He is also a principal investigator in the EU-funded TRUSTparency project, which implements promotion plans for different stakeholders to foster reproducibility practices. In addition, he leads several projects aimed at supporting a responsible research culture in diverse academic settings and studies how early career researchers can be empowered to speak up. He initiated the national Akademiethermometer survey, which investigates the mental health of academics in the Netherlands. Joeri is also the author of the book The Happy Academic – How to Thrive and Survive in Academia (2023), which offers guidance to early career researchers navigating the challenges of academic life. In his work, he consistently focuses on individual, cultural, and systemic factors that can help improve academia, with a strong emphasis on promoting mental health among researchers. Alongside his research, he continues to work as a clinical psychiatrist. In 2022, he was appointed as a member of The Young Academy of the Royal Netherlands Academy of Arts and Sciences, highlighting his commitment to improving research quality, strengthening the societal relevance of research, and fostering a more supportive academic environment for early career researchers.

In her current role she is responsible for the institutional-wide promotion of responsible research practice, including RCR education and training. Professor Sham oversees the strategic development of research, innovation, entrepreneurship, knowledge transfer and impact in CUHK. As a developmental geneticist, she leads a research team focusing on the molecular mechanisms of mammalian development and human congenital disorders. Professor Sham has been a Governing Board member of the World Conferences on Research Integrity Foundation (WCRIF) since 2019.  She served as a Co-Chair for the 6th WCRI held in Hong Kong in 2019, a Co-Chair of the Asia and Pacific Rim Research Integrity (APRI) Network Meeting in 2017 (Hong Kong) and 2025 (Bangkok). She has been a member of the Jury of the Einstein Foundation Award for Promoting Quality in Research since 2023.

Maura Hiney

  • Full text: Maura is currently an Adjunct Professor of Research Integrity at University College Dublin’s Institute for Discovery. She works with the UCD Research Culture team to examine connections between research integrity and culture. In 2025, she was elected to the Royal Irish Academy for her contributions to both national and international research integrity policy. Maura is a founding member of the Irish National Research Integrity Forum and played a key role in developing the first National Policy on Ensuring Integrity in Irish Research (updated in 2019 and 2024) and the 2022 Guidelines on Ensuring Integrity in Collaborative Research. She is currently the principal investigator on the first Survey on Research Integrity in Ireland. Internationally, she has collaborated with various groups to develop policies that promote trust in science, including Science Europe and the former ALLEA Permanent Working Group on Science and Ethics, where she served as Chair and co-authored the ALLEA European Code of Conduct for Research Integrity (2017 and 2023). She participates on the boards of the World Conferences on Research Integrity Foundation and the Embassy of Good Science, and acted as co-chair of the 8th World Conference on Research Integrity in 2024. Maura Hiney was a partner in the SOPs4RI project, which produced SOPs and guidelines to support good research practices and research integrity promotion plans for inclusion in European grant agreements. She is also a member of the Policy Advisory Boards for several EU-funded projects focused on ethics and research integrity.
