Doctoral Forum and Excellence in Doctoral Research on Research Integrity Award

The organizing committee of the 4th World Conference on Research Integrity is pleased to announce that a Doctoral Forum will be held for the first time! The Forum will provide a unique opportunity for PhD students studying research integrity and/or the responsible conduct of research to get advice and comments from an international panel of specialists. The Doctoral Forum will provide an exciting, friendly and supportive environment for PhD students to share ideas and interact with participants!  

Participation in the Doctoral Forum will be limited to invited research integrity experts/mentors and from eight (8) to ten (10) accepted applicants. It will be held on May 31, 2015, at the Conference venue.

On the recommendation of the Doctoral Forum panel, an Excellence in Doctoral Research Award will be granted to the best doctoral project (according to specified criteria to be released soon). The award will be announced at the WCRI Gala Dinner of the 4th WCRI!  

Students willing to participate in the Doctoral Forum should send an application to the Doctoral Forum Chair, Professor Nicholas Steneck, This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. .   To apply, submit an outline of your doctoral project, accompanied by a cover letter.

The cover letter should discuss your interests in research integrity/responsible conduct of research (RI/RCR), your motivations to present your project at the Doctoral Forum, your academic accomplishments and future plans as a researcher and/or educator in RI/RCR. The cover letter should contain the author’s name, supervisor’s name, institutional affiliation (please include e-mail, phone number and institutional address) and planned date for the thesis defense.

The project should include a brief introduction, rationale for the study, methods, and preliminary results (if any)/main contribution to the field of research integrity and responsible conduct of research, and references. It should be typed double-spaced in TNR 12 point type font. Page margins should be set at one inch (2.54 cm) top, bottom, left and right [Ideally, the outline of your project should have between 1,000-1,400 words]. References should be formatted in NLM [National Library of Medicine] Style

All Doctoral Forum material should be in English, the official language of the WCRI.   

The subject of your message should be:  “4th WCRI – Submission to the Doctoral Forum”.
Only doc or pdf files will be accepted.

Eligibility and Deadline:

Applications are limited to doctoral students officially enrolled in a graduate program. Accepted applicants must register for the conference, otherwise they will not be able to participate in the forum.
